The Road Trip Challenge!
Black Jack is supposed to be a couple of hours from Jericho. Heather, Jake, Johnston, and Dale were in that car together for quite awhile. What did they talk about? What were they doing?
Johnston sees or overhears some key interactions between Jake and Heather. He even takes pity on Jake, and doesn't really ream him out too much over trying to bust down the gate with the car, and he leaves Jake alone about that until they're back in Jericho. Write a scene or scenes from Johnston's POV. What's he thinking? What insights does he have into Jake?
Imagine it is some years into the future and a reporter has chosen to interview someone who survived the bombs and the ensuing war. Take one of the characters we don't hear from as often and let them tell us a bit about their experience of the first days, months, or year after the bombs. Think of it as a chance to explore an alternate character voice and perspective.
Jimmy and Bill's first twenty-four hours after the bombs hit were spent locked in the trunk of their own cruiser. Explore their experience and show us those first twenty-four hours (or some of them) as seen through Jimmy's and/or Bill's eyes.
